PenSam
PenSam is a financial corporation that offers its clients
flexible financial products within the fields of pensions,
insurance and banking.
"PenSam Liv" (trans. "PenSam Life") administers, among other
things, pension schemes for nursing assistants, job guidance
counselors, nurses, nursing home employees, orderlies, traffic
employees, county road employees and day care employees.
As a result, PenSam's need for administration and servicing of
their clients both on- and off-line is great, and thus IT is a
critical element of their business foundation.
The Challenge
In 2003, PenSam was facing considerable challenges with their
transition to a .net-based platform. The transitions between the
two platforms meant substantial changes in their IT environment,
and PenSam identified configuration of their test environments as
one of the most pressing concerns.
Pensam had a series of parallel development projects and
therefore needed a large number of test environments to be steadily
updated. This often meant long delivery times and that quality
assurance, documentation and surveillance got very complicated and
time consuming.
The Solution
Through close dialog with PenSam, Pragmatic Consult developed,
implemented and adapted PEM to match the client's comprehensive
need for quality assurance, automatic configuration and efficient
setting up of test environments. For PenSam, this means that
testing is a much more endurable task and the time-to-market ratio
has been exponentially reduced.
PenSam was also able to solve another problem. The time spent
going back and restoring systems due to errors in test environments
is now a thing of the past because every test environment now works
the first time around.
Today PEM handles all test environments based on the Microsoft
platform from where all applications and interdependencies are
controlled automatically. With PEM, PenSam can configure, change,
install, manage and monitor all test environments with speed and
ease.

The Result
1. Bottom line - PenSam's costs

now available in half a day, rather than 3-4 weeks. Accordingly,
activities are now being started up 3-4 weeks faster.

PenSam the assurance that work is being carried out with the
correct versions of applications and data, and a high quality of
the development work is thus assured.
4. Breadth of view - PenSam has
a complete breadth of view over their environments and content.
5. Security - PenSam has
